CFD Research Expands Hollywood Facility
Huntsville’s CFD Research Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new engineering test and evaluation facility in Hollywood, AL last week on November 2nd.
Dale Strong, Madison County Commission Chair and candidate for U.S. House of Representatives AL-5, headlined the ceremony. Other speakers included State Senator Steve Livingston, Nathan Lee, President of the Jackson County Economic Development Authority, and Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy.
The building will be dedicated to support work for an ongoing contract with the Army Space and Missile Defense Command. CFD Research is teamed with Teledyne Brown Engineering, the prime contractor, on this effort. This facility will expand the team’s capability to provide services, support technology development, and enable increased test capacity.
This recent expansion includes 63 acres of property and an additional test stand four times larger than CFD Research’s current capability. The new test stand will expand the company’s manufacturing, system integration, and test and evaluation services.
“Thank you to the town of Hollywood for welcoming us so graciously and celebrating this groundbreaking event, along with Teledyne Brown Engineering and so many others. The location and proximity to our other facilities have been an ideal solution and will enable us to work efficiently and economically,” stated Sameer Singhal, President, and CEO of CFD Research. “This new facility will enable our team to perform work that will enhance SMD’s abilities and mission.”
In August of 2021, CFD Research opened its 13,125-square-foot test and evaluation facility positioned on 10.4 acres in Jackson County Industrial Park, also in Hollywood, AL. Within a year, CFD Research doubled its number of employees and witnessed a surge in testing requirements for its customers.
