The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Integration Center (AMIIC) recently announced that that Siemens Digital Industries Software will provide Huntsville’s student, technical, and defense communities with access to its Xcelerator portfolio of engineering software.

As part of a multi-million-dollar technology grant, Siemens will help AMIIC in supporting the successful attainment of the Department of Defense (DoD)’s modernization goals. The Xcelerator portfolio is a critical component in reaching those innovation objectives.

AMIIC partners will have access to powerful tools providing exposure, demonstration, and project-based resources as North Alabama continues to adopt best-in-class advanced manufacturing practices.

“We are immensely grateful for our long-standing collaboration with Siemens,” said John Schmitt, AMIIC’s Executive Director, “Because of the robust nature of Siemens’ software, it readily integrates with existing software solutions, which will allow us the ability to demonstrate cutting edge capability, while continuing to remain software agnostic, which is important as users often struggle with vendor lock.”

Siemens’ long-standing collaboration with AMIIC’s parent company, the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM), further demonstrates the organization’s support of AMIIC’s mission to accelerate the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies and build the Nation’s future workforce.

Huntsville-based AMIIC is a 501(c)3 non-profit private-public partnership that is a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM).

The non-profit was established to accelerate the adoption of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and build Northern Alabama’s workforce of the future. Through its state-of-the-art demonstration facility, along with a significant expansion of education and workforce development, AMIIC endeavors to stimulate Alabama’s economy, workforce, and advanced manufacturing sector.

Through collaboration with industry leaders, such as Siemens, AMIIC endeavors to support training and credentialing, in the effort to accelerate the government and industry adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, thus meeting the Army’s innovation needs.

All AMIIC courses and learning objectives have been developed to meet application-focused requirements of the Army’s policies for Advanced Manufacturing and the needs of Redstone Arsenal activities, support contractors, and the North Alabama manufacturing community.

AMIIC’s Training Hub officially opened the beginning of February. Programs are now available to both students and those already in their careers. Training is offered to both individuals and organizations in live, virtual, hands-on and hybrid formats. Initial course offerings are intended to provide foundational digital engineering training to early and mid-career professionals.

Course offerings currently include Army Policy for Advanced Manufacturing, Introduction to Model-Based Systems Engineering, Basics of Optical Measurement, with over 75 online offerings and many more currently being developed.
