Drake State CSI Program connects students to advanced manufacturing companies
HUNTSVILLE, AL – Five advanced manufacturing companies have selected 14 Drake State students to participate in the CSI (Connecting Students with Industry) Advanced Industrial Maintenance (AIM) Program. Boeing, GE Appliances, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing, Toyota Alabama Inc., and LSINC interviewed students and selected this top group who will work for the companies while pursuing a two-year technical associate degree.
SIGNING DAY
- Tuesday, August 30 at 2 p.m.
- Drake State 3421 Meridian Street North, Building 300, Cafetorium
This CSI cohort is for students seeking a degree in industrial maintenance, also known as mechatronics. Industrial Maintenance focuses on problem solving; students learn how to repair machinery and equipment, making sure that things are working well, as well as analyzing the processes and problems when things go wrong.
“This is a program that includes our students in worked based learning programs,” said Karen Ray, Director of Workforce Development program. “It allows them to make a livable wage, go to school and earn a degree at the same time, and gain the skills they need to support their career after they finish the degree.”
The lessons learned here will forever remain with me. I am grateful for the conducive environment and the honor to be an employee of this company, it’s been full of wonderful experiences.
