It’s Shine Time in North Alabama, Super Wash is Expanding

March 29, 2021/in News, Entrepreneurs, Services, Small Business/by Kimberly Ballard

Flashing neon tunnel lights. Lollipops for the kids. Biscuits for the family dog. A neon curtain of hot lava foam.

shine time unv driveIt all may sound like a carnival, but the new Shine Time Super Wash is expanding in North Alabama. And the business doesn’t just include the latest clean car technology, it also includes a fun experience for the whole family.

When Huntsville native Mike Reiney retired from the pharmaceutical business in 2016, the car wash business was a new career for him. He joined a partnership in the first Shine Time Super Wash in Tupelo, Miss. After doing some research, he began expanding the Shine Time model, opening a second location in Tupelo.

Today, Reiney has locations on University Drive in Huntsville, Alabama 157 in Moulton, Sullivan Street in Madison. Continuing his drive to expand, he is opening locations this year in the Shoppes at Redstone Square on Zierdt and Martin roads, and on County Line Road.

““With their busy lifestyles, people no longer take the time to care for their own cars like they used to, and there is a lot of new technology happening in the car appearance industry to help them do that and I have vowed to stay on top of that,” said Reiney. “I saw an opportunity to offer a quality community service that from the beginning, I wanted to be more than just a traditional car wash. I wanted to provide a very clean atmosphere with a variety of services you wouldn’t get at any other car wash.”

Those services include a free towel and bottle service in the vacuum area, clean windows inside and out, mat cleaners, and compressed air to blow out the dust in your door pockets and cupholders.

Shine Time 2The trained staff can answer questions, assist customers, and direct traffic to get people in and out quickly. They also offer tunnel-applied hot lava foam baths, ceramic coatings and gift cards.

Reiney said the Shine Time Super Wash locations are family-owned and locally operated, but each location stands on its own with tunnel lengths and other offerings.

For example, the University Drive location that opened in 2019 has a longer wash tunnel than the others and provides new wax and polish technology in a second tunnel.

“There are only five of these in the entire United States,” said Reiney. “After you go through the wash tunnel, our attendants will spray on a wax. The second tunnel buffs out the wax using a mechanical soft cloth process that leaves your car paint looking like a mirror when you come out.

“It is absolutely amazing.”
