Millennium Opens the Nation’s First Threat Informatics Center

Cybercrimes are occurring with increasing frequency. As hackers develop more sophisticated ways to access secure information, the need for people skilled in cybersecurity continues to grow.

To help address these issues, Millennium Corporation recently unveiled its new Threat Informatics Center (MTIC™). Located in Bridge Street Town Centre, the MTIC™ facility is the first-of-its-kind in the nation.

Headquartered in Arlington, VA, Millennium has been on the leading edge of cybersecurity, specializing in strategic management and systems engineering for nearly two decades.

Millennium first started working in Rocket City around 13 years ago starting with three employees. As the importance of their business grew, Millennium increased their employment number to a team of 60 individuals.

The Center’s design brings together the multiple facets of cybersecurity, according to Ben Clark, Millennium’s Chief Technology Officer. In addition, MTIC™ showcases Millennium’s advancements in cyber operations, technical security training, and software engineering.

Merging the capabilities of a cyber operations center with the resources of a dedicated training center, the 10,000 square foot facility serves as an innovation hub. The MTIC™also features a fully equipped Cyber Threat Operations Center (CTOC), research and development labs, along with multiple conference and training areas.

The research and development labs include 3D printers, GPU clusters, laser printers, cyber range environments, and a full suite of wireless RF capability.

Home to Millennium’s own Red Team Training Program, the cyber operations training facility has the capacity to host three separate training sessions concurrently and has single-room capacity for over fifty people.

The MTIC™concentrated on bringing together cyber operations personnel and Security Development Operations (SecDevOps) engineers and has over 2,000 square feet for cyber operations training and events.

These elements all come together to promote the new concept of Threat Informatics™, an analytical field that studies and applies the effective use of threat intelligence and defensive data to generate predictive attack sequences and improved mission risk decisions.

The cornerstone of the MTIC™ is the CTOC, an operations center allowing up to two dozen cyber operators to perform real-world mission operations on multiple networks simultaneously, supporting operations around the globe.

The CTOC provides mission leadership with the necessary information about ongoing cyber operations in real-time, using the large displays visible throughout the space.

Millennium is actively involved with local high schools, in addition to Alabama A&M, UAH, and Auburn. There’s a keen focus on internships to help develop the next generation of cybersecurity specialists.

“The investment in the MTIC is a testament to our continued commitment to our local customers and partners and provides a multi-purpose space for our clients and employees to spur innovation, drive mission value, and prepare the next generation of the cyber workforce,” said Ben Clark. “The MTIC represents a paradigm shift in cybersecurity training and operations, bringing students and experienced professionals together to close the training gap and address America’s greatest cybersecurity threat, the lack of a qualified workforce.”
