CFD Research Corporation Founder Ashok Singhal Passes Away

November 4, 2021/in News, People/by staff reports

The Huntsville Business Journal is sad to announce that Ashok Singhal, founder and Chairman of CFD Research has passed away.

Singhal started CFD Research in the basement of his home here in Huntsville in 1987. Under his stewardship, CFD Research appeared on Inc. Magazine’s 5000 in 2021.

With capabilities in aerospace, defense, automotive and biomedical, they are building a new laboratory facility located behind their current building on Moquin Drive in Cummings Research Park where they are expanding research and development capabilities in the areas of biomedical and energy, while providing new space for capabilities to support growth in electronics, virology, and biomechanics.

Among those cutting-edge technologies are drug discovery and development, regenerative medicine, biomedical and clinical diagnostics, human performance, and power generation and energy storage technologies.

“The first thing you have to do is open your mind,” he told the Huntsville Business Journal in June of this year. “It is a rare entity, commons sense. It takes persistence and patience, patience, patience, and more patience.”

Having interviewed him for the Sit Down With Success feature for the Business Journal this summer, senior writer Kimberly Ballard said he was unquestionably one of the best and most interesting interviews she has ever done.

“You could tell he was simply brilliant and yet he talked about his company’s complex work in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in a way that made it intriguing,” said Ballard. “He was passionate about his work and yet he had a great sense of humor too.

“I asked him, ‘Did you ever expect CFD Research to get this big?’ and his answer summed up his optimism and determination.

‘Yes, and so much more. We’re not done yet’.
