Department of Defense Contract Review: January 09 – 20

This series from the Huntsville Business Journal covers Department of Defense (DoD) contracts awarded to Huntsville-Madison County and Alabama businesses. Every two weeks, the Huntsville Business Journal provides you with an update to the various military contracts that local and state businesses are awarded. This entry covers contracts listed on the Department of Defense daily postings from Monday, January 9th – Friday, January 20th.

For this time period, there were five contracts listed on the Department of Defense daily postings for Huntsville and Alabama based companies totaling around $1,647,804,473.

The businesses listed below may or may not be located in Huntsville but work directly with their contracting activity located in Rocket City, hence their inclusion in the article.

  • Army: 

Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp., Atlanta, Georgia, was awarded a $1,600,000,000 modification (P00011) to contract W31P4Q-18-D-0002 for research, engineering, science and technology, analysis, test and fundamental technology research for state-of-the-art systems, operations, hardware and software, and associated technology creation and transition efforts. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 17, 2028. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity. 

Amentum Services Inc., Germantown, Maryland, was awarded a $7,628,711 modification (P00235) to contract W58RGZ-19-C-0018 for worldwide aviation maintenance services. Work will be performed in Camp Humphreys, Korea; and Wahiawa, Hawaii, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 30, 2027. Fiscal 2023 operation and maintenance, Army funds in the amount of $7,628,711 were obligated at the time of the award. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

Raytheon Co., Andover, Massachusetts, was awarded a $17,355,794 hybrid (cost-no-fee, cost-plus-fixed-fee, firm-fixed-price) contract for Fair Share Sustainment operations. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work will be performed in Andover, Massachusetts, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 30, 2027. Fiscal 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027 other procurement, Army funds in the amount of $17,355,794 were obligated at the time of the award. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W31P4Q-22-C-0049).

Weston Solutions Inc., Albuquerque, New Mexico, was awarded a $7,934,873 modification (P00018) to contract W912DY-19-F-0061 for recurring maintenance and minor repair of petroleum systems. Bids were solicited via the internet with four received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 8, 2024.  

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntsville, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

  • Air Force:

Radiance Technologies Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, has been awarded a $14,885,095 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract.  This contract provides test and engineering support for several developmental high energy laser weapon systems.  The location of performance is Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico.  The work is expected to be complete by Jan. 17, 2028.

This award is the result of a competitive acquisition, and one solicitation was mailed, and 22 offers received. Fiscal 2023 research and development funds in the amount of $487,000 are being obligated at the time of award.  

Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, New Mexico, is the contracting activity (FA9451-23-C-0002).
