Huntsville’s QuantiTech and Subsidiaries Combine Forces as Axient

June 9, 2021/in Lead, Defense, News, Research, Technology/by Kimberly Ballard

With a vision, Sheila Brown founded QuantiTech in 1991 as a Woman-Owned Small Business providing engineering expertise and management advisory services to government and commercial customers.

In 30 years, QuantiTech has grown into a family of four companies with engineering capabilities in the aerospace and cyberspace industries.

Now, QuantiTech, Millennium Engineering and Integration, Dynamic Concepts, and System Engineering Group are merging into a single company named Axient.

Axient, with a global workforce of more than 2,000 employees, will continue to provide technical engineering services to the Army, Air Force, NASA, and  U.S. defense agencies. The move also integrates QuantiTech’s domain expertise to form an entity that brings its capabilities to the marketplace, company officials said.

According to Axient President and CEO Patrick Murphy, the merger will better align the companies’ combined capabilities in the areas of test and analysis, mission engineering and operations, and advanced technology solutions in both the aerospace and cyberspace industries.

He said the move positions the company to deliver a broad spectrum of purpose-built solutions that enable defense and civilian agencies.

“The Axient brand affirms our commitment to ‘accelerate what is possible’ through innovation that empowers customers to move at the speed their mission requires,” said Murphy. “Each of our acquisitions has expanded and strengthened our capabilities and depth of talent, while unlocking new market opportunities. And most remarkable to me is how aligned the combined global workforce, which now exceeds 2,000 employees, is in culture, priorities, and mission focus.”

Axient is restructuring its operations under five business segments to better deliver integrated solutions, services, and products to their customers.

Integrated Force Systems is led by Senior Vice President Reese Hauenstein; Defense Systems is led by Senior Vice President Larry Foor; National Security Space Systems is led by Senior Vice President Dan Benjamin; and Civil Air and Space Systems is led by Senior Vice President Jon Sharpe.

Senior Vice President Joe Clayton will continue to lead Axient’s Dynamic Concepts subsidiary in its Advanced Technology segment.

Axient is backed by Sagewind Capital, a New York-based private equity firm which supports government services companies.
