Intrepid Receives Three-Year Accreditation to Complete Classified Work
The Huntsville based services provider, Intrepid, recently achieved a huge milestone when it received accreditation from the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and National Industrial Security Program (NISP) for its Tactical Innovation and Experimentation Laboratory (TIEL).
The three-year accreditation is the maximum approval and will allow Intrepid the authority to complete classified work in their TIEL. The accreditation comes after a lengthy application process that took four years to complete according to Intrepid’s Communications Manger Elizabeth Lomax.
“For a company the size of Intrepid to have this state-of-the-art classified lab is huge,” said Mark Statham, Intrepid Business Unit Leader for PEO Missiles and Space. “It is unheard of, and it is a capability that has only been seen in larger companies until now.”
Founded in 2002, Intrepid has provided a wide variety of services to the U.S. Army, Air Force and Missile Defense Agency. These services include aviation, programmatics, security intelligence and missile defense. The company’s headquarters is located at Cummings Research Park and currently employs around 180 people in Huntsville.
Their work in the Tactical Innovation and Experimentation Lab includes various forms of software development, integration and tested analysis. It provides the power and flexibility to support the near and far term needs of customers. Additionally, the primary element of this classified lab is one of only three of its kind installed in the state of Alabama.
“With this major milestone accomplished and all of the hard work along with it, we see this as an opportune time to start providing the needed lab support to our customers for prototyping, testing, and analysis,” said Nancy Herthum, Director of the TIEL and Interoperability Programs. “This also opens the door to provide this asset to other organizations and agencies. The door is wide open.”
