United Safety announces partnership with Huntsville company to produce AI security tech
Local Huntsville company Exigent, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AI-specialist company Arcarithm, has announced a partnership with United Safety and Survivability Corporation to produce its proprietary security technology for widespread distribution.
The Exigent-GR system utilizes Artificial Intelligence technology linked to cameras to scan locations for firearms, enabling swift detection and alert for weapons. Computational networks analyze a great many images, using algorithms to recognize patterns in the image and find anomalies as set by the programmers – in this case, the presence of weapons.
Randy Riley, president and CEO of the manager of Exigent, explained that”current security camera systems require a human to identify gun threats. Even dedicated security professionals using the best camera system cannot provide 100 percent real-time observation. An effective, pro-active solution is needed to identify guns before they enter an area where shots are fired and that is where the Exigent-GR technology comes into play.”
The announcement, of course, comes in an atmosphere of public agitation over high-visibility, high-casualty mass-shootings, such as the murder of more than twenty young schoolchildren and teachers in Uvalde, Texas.
Many businesses and public venues are experimenting with AI security technology, which could well prove to be more effective than poorly-monitored security cameras. Exigent plans to deliver its system to “school systems, transportation systems, and First Responder environments.”
