Solid Ground Counseling Center to Host Free Suicide Prevention and Awareness Training

September 20, 2022/in Education, Events, Featured, Health Care, News, Services/by Dawn Suiter

September is Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, and in keeping with its commitment to providing mental wellness resources to the local community, Madison’s Solid Ground Counseling Center is making a free online training session available to the public.

In order to educate individuals about how to facilitate a conversation with a person who is struggling with suicidal thoughts, Rachel Sullivan, LMFT, CFLE-P, owner of Solid Ground, is leading a free online training session on Wednesday, September 21 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

During the Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) Training, participants will learn about how to recognize the warning signs of suicide, understand how to offer hope, and learn how to get help and save a life.

QPR is a nationally recognized, evidence-based suicide awareness training intended to educate the general public about suicide warning signs. It is not a counseling training and is not intended to be counseling. Rather, it equips individuals to feel more capable of recognizing a potential crisis and knowing what steps can be taken to help.
