South Huntsville Entertainment District Continues Development

South Huntsville development Hays Farm continues to add tenants to a growing list of those already on board at The Market shopping center, which is anchored by the already opened Publix grocery chain.

Amerigo and Tom Brown’s Restaurant are among four eateries being added to a roster at The Market at Hays Farm that includes Premier Urgent Care, Eye Care Associates and Grand Nail Lounge.

The Market, which is expected to be operating at a near-full capacity this year on the sprawling Hays Farm campus at the corner of Memorial Parkway and Haysland Road near Grissom High School, is one of many ongoing projects at the site.

“Publix and Staples are open for business and we’ve got full restaurants coming,’’ said Jeff Enfinger, developer and general contractor. “There’s a Tom Brown’s and Amerigo and two others. We expect over time to have other restaurants.’’

Amerigo, which offers a blend of traditional and modern Italian cuisine, was brought to Hays Farm by the group that developed Char off the parkway near Bob Wallace. Amerigo will be open seven days a week.

Tom Brown’s Restaurant, which specializes in steak and seafood, is already operating in Madison on Highway 72 near Target. Tom Brown’s serves dinner Monday-Saturday.

The Market, by Branch Properties of Atlanta, is part of the development that will feature single and multi-family homes, apartments, an office park and entertainment district, a nature preserve, eight miles of walking trails, a community park and more.

Enfinger said other projects in the master planned community have either been launched or are in the works. Housing is already under construction.

“Goodall Homes has started two subdivisions priced from about $500,000 to $1 million,’’ he said. “They’re going to start the third subdivision in July and that one will be priced from $3.5-5 hundred thousand.’’

The first of 330 Class-A Liam at Hays Farm Apartments, under construction by Houston-based Bomasada Group, should be available by spring 2023. Bomasada specializes in luxury properties.

The City of Huntsville has agreed to build an Urban Park, which will be similar to Big Spring Park downtown and roughly the same size with construction planned for summer and fall.

“The city is good to build the community park,’’ Enfinger said. “It’ll be for all of South Huntsville.’’

The Entertainment District will be in the center of Hays Farm with a planned groundbreaking by Camden of Connecticut scheduled for late this year.

“You will have restaurants and some small-scale shopping,’’ Enfinger said. “It will have some bars with food, restaurants and some boutique shops. Nothing big box but small-scale shopping.’’
