Astrion secures $910 million U.S. Army Test and Evaluation contract
Astrion announced earlier this week it was awarded a 5-year $910M Redstone Test and Engineering Services (RTES) contract by the United States Army Contracting Command.
Astrion will continue to provide comprehensive support across missile, aviation, and associated technologies to ensure the delivery of safe and effective combat weapon system capabilities to the U.S. Army.
Matt Matoushek, EVP and GM of Army at Astrion’s Huntsville headquarters, spoke with HBJ about the contract and Astrion as a whole.
“I’ve been supporting Astrion and our predecessor companies for almost 17 years, the last 14 of those in Huntsville, and the new contract is with the joint technical solutions (JTS). That’s a joint venture that we have formed with another local company here in the area called ASRI,” Matoushek explained.
Joint Technical Solutions is a mentor protege arrangement, approved through the Small Business Administration. Matoushek mentioned that Astrion is the largest company in that organization, and is the mentor to ASRI.
This announcement follows the recent launch of Astrion, which brought together two flagship government services firms, Oasis Systems and ERC. When the formation of Astrion was announced, one of the companies stated goals was to help “shape a new culture.”
“We’re almost 3000 employees across the country. A lot of this new culture really is focused on the innovation component of it. Some of that is going to be internal processes that we have as a company, but really we devote some of that as well towards the customer’s needs and trying to offer solutions to their toughest challenges,” Matoushek elaborated.
