What do you love most about living and working in Huntsville?

I love Huntsville because of its arts culture and the diverse opportunities it offers. It means a lot to me to give back to the same dance education that poured into me while growing up here.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?

Take your time to grow and develop your skills and trust the process. Always embrace your journey, things will fall into place when the timing is right.

What motivates you on hard days?

My motivation on the hard days comes from the privilege of teaching my students through dance education. It’s an honor to be a part of their growth as they develop skills and reach their goals. Knowing I get to be a highlight of their week is what keeps me moving forward.

How do you like to give back to the community, and why is it important to you?

I love giving back to the community through my studio’s foundation, Kathy’s Grand Heart Foundation, created in honor of my mom, which provides scholarship-based dance opportunities for students in kinship and foster care. Her commitment to lifelong learning and youth education means everything to me, and continuing her legacy is one of my greatest purposes.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career, and what valuable lesson did they teach you?

The biggest influence on my career has been Joe Lanteri, Executive Director and Founder of the New York City Dance Alliance. As a former NYCDA student, I experienced firsthand his dedication to dance education in a positive and supportive environment. One of my favorite memories is being a scholarship finalist for multiple years and finally earning the Tripe Threat Scholarship in my final year. Joe’s encouragement to never give up made all the difference. It truly came full circle when I reconnected with him after bringing my first competition students to his convention for their first NYCDA experience.
