HH Health seeks community input through health needs survey
Huntsville Hospital Health System (HH Health) is seeking input from North Alabama residents through a survey on community health needs that runs now through Nov. 13.
As a nonprofit, community-based health system serving 15 counties, HH Health is conducting the assessment to gain additional insight into the health challenges and priorities of the communities it serves. The feedback will help guide future healthcare programs, services and investments across the system.
“We believe the best way to understand what a community needs is to listen to the people who call it home,” said Jeff Samz, CEO of Huntsville Hospital Health System. “Most of our hospitals are not required to conduct this type of assessment, but we believe it’s the right thing to do. We have a responsibility to understand the needs of our communities and make thoughtful decisions about how we invest our resources. We want our patients and neighbors to have a voice in that process.”
The effort will examine a wide range of factors that affect people’s health, including access to medical care, barriers to staying healthy, the needs of underserved populations and resources available within each community.
The survey is the first step in a broader effort to gather community input. HH Health also plans to host town hall meetings across North Alabama in spring 2027, giving community members additional opportunities to provide feedback on local health needs and priorities.
Healthcare needs vary across North Alabama, and those needs continue to change as communities grow and evolve. Community feedback will help HH Health identify opportunities to strengthen healthcare services and improve access at the local level.
The survey is being administered by ECG Consultants and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. Community members are encouraged to participate, whether they have recently received care at an HH Health facility or not.
