Spring Home and Garden Show Coming to VBC March 4-6

The 34th Annual Spring Home and Garden Show premieres March 4-6 at the Von Braun Center. 

The Huntsville Madison County Builders Association assembles over 125 industry experts presenting roughly 100,000 square feet of new ideas. 

“The Show is the premier event for building, remodeling, and garden products in the North Alabama area, bringing consumers all the latest trends and technology for the home under one roof,” Huntsville Madison County Builders Association Executive Officer Barry Oxley said. 

“We strive to have a good mix of exhibitors that will meet the needs of the consumers. These companies & countless industry experts will be on hand to answer questions, share ideas and provide inspiration,” Oxley stated. 

Housing has become an increasingly shorter commodity in recent months. Huntsville  has added an average of 1 percent new residents annually since the 2010 census, totaling an extra 35,000 people impacting the local housing landscape. 

“Huntsville is our hometown, but my husband and I have not lived here in ten years. We lived in Chattanooga for the past 6 years and just recently moved back home last April. We wanted to start making connections to people in this industry, here, so that we can start partnering on projects that will help better our community,” Wilder Roots owner and interior designer Briana Hall said. 

Improving the community is at the heart of HMCBA’s mission since it was chartered in 1957. The professional trade organization is especially vital now as local areas rapidly expand. 

“With the explosive growth in Madison County and the surrounding areas, we expect the Spring Home + Garden Show to be a highly attended event this year. Many people are moving into our area, looking to purchase a home or build. Increased opportunities to work remotely have also created high demand to renovate existing homes as well. Consumers will save valuable time by being able to speak with industry experts to compare services and products. Many companies offer exclusive discounts available only to consumers attending the Spring Home + Garden Show,” Oxley said. 

Another added advantage of attending the spring show is that a large percentage of the exhibitors have established themselves in the same areas that they continue to do business. For a potential client the knowledge of local regulations provides peace of mind. 

“Almost all of the exhibitors are members of the Huntsville Madison County Builders Association that has to subscribe and abide by a Code of Ethics that include making sure they are insured and licensed when required. The brand recognition alone is helpful when consumers are hiring a licensed and trusted expert,” Oxley said. 

One exhibitor participating in the new ‘Ask a Designer’ show feature is the recent HMCBA member Wilder Roots Design Studio, which will be doing 15-minute design consultations every hour throughout the weekend.

“Wilder Roots Design is a full service interior design studio that specializes in designing custom floor plans and exteriors. We want to meet as many people as possible that need our assistance with any type of design project. I am super excited that HMCBA asked me to be a part of such a cool experience,” Hall said.  

Experience is key when selecting builders, designers and contractors. The Alabama Plumbers & Gas Fitters Examining Board will be available to answer consumer questions.  

“We like to do these trade shows for public awareness reasons. We have compliance officers assigned to various regions throughout the state that patrol areas that support city inspection. Our organization is pre-emptive in that if the consumer has to file a complaint then the damage has already occurred. We want to make sure that a hired contractor is licensed to fully understand and complete the work. If there is a licensing or compliance issue that violates state law then we can direct the public with those cases,” Alabama Plumbers & Gas Fitters Examining Board Executive Director Jimmy Morgan said. 

However, not every vendor participating in the show is construction related. A number of vendors are local small businesses displaying handmade products ranging from facial regimens to dog treats. 

“We continue to expand show features based on consumer feedback and lifestyle trends. Noëlla’s Flower Truck will allow guests to create a gorgeous locally grown bouquet for their home and It’s All Gouda will be on hand Sunday with presentations on creating graze boards that are sure to impress. We hope to grow this facet of the show. We are so lucky to live in an area with so many talented artisans,” Oxley said. 

The HMCBA is a local chapter of the Home Builders Association of Alabama and the National Association of Home Builders and is comprised of over 1,250 members including builders, remodelers, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, financial institutions, realtors, and other related professions.
