Department of Defense Contract Review: October 17-28

This series from the Huntsville Business Journal covers Department of Defense (DoD) contracts awarded to Huntsville-Madison County and Alabama businesses. Each week, the Huntsville Business Journal provides you with an update to the various military contracts that local and state businesses are awarded. This entry covers contracts listed on the Department of Defense daily postings from Monday, October 17th– Friday, October 28th.

For this time period, there were four contracts listed on the Department of Defense daily postings for Huntsville and Alabama based companies totaling around $1,291,436,195.

The businesses listed below may or may not be located in Huntsville but work directly with their contracting activity located in Rocket City, hence their inclusion in the article. 

  • Army:

Engineering Research and Consulting Inc., Huntsville, Alabama, was awarded a $640,512,703 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to support planning, conducting, analyzing and reporting the results of developmental tests, production tests and other tests conducted by the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center. Bids were solicited via the internet with three received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 20, 2027. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, is the contracting activity (W91CRB-23-D-0001).

Lockheed Martin Corp., Grand Prairie, Texas, was awarded a $476,814,000 hybrid (cost-plus-fixed-fee and firm-fixed-price) contract for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 15, 2025. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W31P4Q-23-D-0003).

Raytheon Co., Andover, Massachusetts, was awarded a $122,000,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor pre-planned product improvement Increment III effort. Bids were solicited via the internet with two received. Work will be performed in Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Tucson, Arizona; Anaheim Hills, El Segundo and San Diego, California; Fort Walton Beach, Indialantic and St. Petersburg, Florida; Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, Indiana; Andover, Burlington, Cambridge, Marlborough, Tewksbury, Waltham and Woburn, Massachusetts; Aberdeen Proving Ground and Fulton, Maryland; Saginaw, Michigan; Nashua and Pelham, New Hampshire; White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico; Lawton, Oklahoma; Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Portsmouth, Rhode Island; El Paso and San Antonio, Texas; and Arlington and Sterling, Virginia, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 31, 2025. Fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation, Army funds in the amount of $122,000,000 were obligated at the time of the award. 

U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity (W9124P-19-9-0001).

University of Alabama in Huntsville, Huntsville, Alabama, was awarded a $52,109,492 modification (P00022) to contract W31P4Q-15-D-0062 for information technology and related systems and services. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Jan. 31, 2024.
