District 1 Holiday Celebration

Christmas fun in District 1!

December 6, 2024/in Arts, Charities, Entertainment, Events, Featured, Lead, News, Recreation/by staff reports

Mark your calendar for an inaugural Christmas celebration happening this weekend in North Huntsville.

District 1 City Council member Michelle Watkins will host “A Claus for Celebration” on Sunday, December 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Johnson Legacy Center and Legacy Park.

The event, which is free to attend, will include complimentary hot chocolate, photos with Santa Claus, and live performances by saxophonist Alex D. Banks as well as the Jemison High School Band and Choir.

The evening will conclude with a ceremonial Christmas tree lighting.

“I’m excited to kick off this new holiday tradition,” Watkins said. “This event is open to everyone in Huntsville, no matter which district you call home. It’s a chance for our entire community to come together, celebrate the season and create lasting memories.”

Share some holiday warmth by bringing new or gently used hats, gloves, and coats for the Cozy Care Holiday Drive, a joint effort by Huntsville Parks & Recreation and Christmas Charities Year Round.

The address for the event is 6000 Cecil Fain Drive, Huntsville, Alabama, 35810.
