I fell in love at first sight with the Rocket (Saturn V) standing tall and proud. I love the Huntsville city vibe—it offers a good mix of art, entertainment, and outdoor activities yet feels cozy at the same time.
What’s your best advice for starting a career in the Rocket City?
You cannot go wrong with a career choice in the Rocket City. We are a thriving hub for innovation and opportunities. Look out for entrepreneurial jumpstart opportunities offered by the Spark program by gener8tor, the DefenseTech Accelerator, and other local programs, as well as those by Innovate Alabama, to support your journey.
How do you like to give back to the community, and why is it important to you?
Giving back to the community is a way of life for me. The best legacy that anyone can leave behind is a thriving generation who will make this world a better place for all.
Professionally, I’m an IEEE mentor and the ACM faculty advisor at UAH. I’m also a Huntsville Committee of 100 member. I’m involved extensively in various educational and volunteer initiatives in town.
How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
If I’m not at coffee shops, I’m at art or music shows, or hiking on Monte Sano or Green Mountain.
Who has been the biggest influence on your career, and what valuable lesson did they teach you?
I have been fortunate to cross paths with many wonderful mentors who have shaped my career and my service to the community. Singularly, Dr. S. K. Ramesh, the current Chair of the ABET Global Council and a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at California State University, has played a significant role in shaping my academic career. His visionary leadership and decades of service to IEEE and ABET have influenced my path in giving back to the community.
