Jalen Williams: Huntsville Sports Commission, Event Operations Manager

May 9, 2025/in Featured, Lead, News, Top 40/by Sarah Zupko

Jalen Williams is a key member of Huntsville’s sport tourism team, overseeing the operation and organization of more than 50 sporting events annually. A Birmingham, Alabama native, Jalen graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School before earning his degree from Columbia University in the City of New York. As a former student-athlete, he lettered all four years as a member of Columbia’s football team.

Jalen began his career in the NFL, working in the scouting department for the Cleveland Browns, and later gained valuable experience as an Event Operations Fellow with Knight Eady Sports Group. His passion for sports extends beyond event management, as he has also dedicated the past three years to coaching football at Randolph School, helping to develop young athletes in the Huntsville community.

What do you love most about living and working in Huntsville?

Huntsville has been awesome thus far! As a Birmingham native I might catch some flack for this, but Huntsville has become my favorite city in Alabama. My favorite part about living and working here is being able to witness and be a part of the growth of Huntsville.

What’s your best advice for starting a career in the Rocket City?

Network, intern, and volunteer!

How do you like to give back to the community, and why is it important to you?

I give back to the community through my mentorship to younger athletes. In my mind, if I can take my knowledge, wisdom, and experiences and use it to help young athletes raise the levels of their potential, that’s a job well done.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

Golf, coaching and mentoring athletes, cooking, and gardening.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career, and what valuable lesson did they teach you?

My dad has been a huge influence on my career. The lesson is twofold:

Part A – Always do your best and set the standard for others.

Part B – Always know your worth.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I am a beast in the kitchen. Cooking and exploring the eateries around Huntsville are some of my favorite pastimes.

Where is your favorite place to relax in Huntsville?

My favorite place to relax in Huntsville is in my backyard, either tending to the plants and veggies in my garden or playing fetch with my dogs Nala and Mac!

What is your workday jam?

It truly depends on the day! I have many different playlists of just about every genre, but if I had to choose one song, it would be ‘Int’l Players Anthem’ by UGK ft. OutKast.
