Triple the Talent: Rocket City Momentum’s Winning Marketing Formula

Maybe the Latin-speaking citizens of the Roman Empire were on to something in the way of numerology when they coined the phrase “Omne trium perfectum.’’

Translated that means “everything that comes in threes is perfect,’’ a concept rooted in history and culture and appearing in various forms across different contexts, from ancient philosophy to modern-day marketing.

Who can argue with the Romans?

The language may be dead but the theory of three being omnipotent isn’t. For example, we’ve had the Three Musketeers (literature, cinema, candy bar), the Three Stooges (comedy) and the Three Tenors (music) among many trios.

“It’s a joint venture with all three of us,’’ co-owner Dana Stone said during the grand opening of Rocket City Momentum. “We do video production and StoryBrand coaching and we make videos that move people into action.’’

The other two in the “us’’ part are Jennifer Smith and Lucas Skylar Scott. The three colleagues ran in the same professional circles for years and even joined together in a YouTube podcast.

Their camaraderie and business knowledge birthed an idea: start a company they’re all familiar with as co-owners. Think Three’s Company, the 40-plus year old cheeky television sitcom that ran for eight seasons.

The partners are a breezy bunch as were the apartment-sharing friends of the aforementioned show, but Rocket City Momentum (RCM) is anything but old school. They’ve got a modular studio in their office off Bailey Cove Road, can go mobile for video and provide coaching, which is a progression of marketing.

“We want to have a strategy for what you’re going to do with that video and how you’re going to get the most bang for your buck, how we’re going to use that video to actually move the dial for you,’’ said Stone, the company’s COO, a certified business and StoryBrand coach who previously operated her own business for 10 years.

According to Scott, RCM’s creative director and a video production professional, the company provides an option for businesses that don’t have budgets to “bring on a marketing firm.’’

“Then they try to do it all themselves, and what frequently happens is they burn out and go out of business. A lot of times we can actually coach them into success where they’re able to then build and access a marketing budget. We set their business up to scale, optimize their systems, optimize their processes, fix some of those things. Beyond that we do executive coaching.’’

Business owners assuming they know what their customers want is a problem RCM can solve.

“We can bring up executives to their next level and really unlock their success in a bigger way, but what we’re really centered around at this time is we’re driving forward on the video production and the marketing piece,’’ Scott said. “We’re helping brands clarify their message, helping them understand their audience by analyzing their audience.’’

Though the hours-long grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration was held last week, Rocket City Momentum opened in May and has built a client base. Coincidentally, the “three’’ co-owners’ last names all begin with S.

“Each business has to have a presence online and in social media to be competitive at all,’’ said Smith, the company’s client relations officer. “One thing they can do with us is figure out what message they are saying, how is their brand represented, and how can they have great quality content that’s gonna set them apart from everyone else in their industry.

“That’s what we do.’’
