Boston-based investment firm acquires facility in Jetplex Industrial Park
Huntsville’s aerospace and defense ecosystem continues to be a magnet for business.
The latest business to be drawn to the Rocket City is Davis Management, a Boston-based real estate investment, development, and management firm.
Davis recently acquired an 80,000 square-foot, industrial research and development facility on Wall-Triana Highway, across from the International Intermodal Center.
“We are excited to expand Davis’ national portfolio of advanced manufacturing and research and development real estate with this acquisition in Huntsville,” said Brendan Richards, Davis vice president of investments. “2865 Wall Triana Highway combines specialized building infrastructure with proximity to Huntsville International Airport, Redstone Arsenal and the broader aerospace and defense ecosystem in the region.”
The property was acquired from Huntsville investment firm Paragon Capital; EOS Defense Systems is a tenant.
Davis said the transaction expands its investment activity in Huntsville, following an affiliate’s acquisition of 355 Quality Circle this year, and reflects the firm’s continued focus on aerospace and defense, as well as research and development real estate.
“Huntsville’s concentration of federal agencies and aerospace, defense, and technology companies was an important consideration in evaluating this investment,” said Sean Coffey, managing director of investments. “The property’s location and specialized infrastructure align with the types of assets we are investing in within these sectors.”
The building includes 3,000 amps of three-phase power, 26-foot clear heights, a 15-ton gantry crane, oversized drive-in access and heavy floor loads capable of supporting large vehicles, according to a news release.
The site also includes more than three acres of additional land that may accommodate future development for advanced manufacturing and research and development users seeking space in the Jetplex.
