Governors Drive Development Nearing Completion, Eyeing April 01

January 21, 2022/in Lead, Community Development, Featured, News/by Noah Logan

The first part of west Huntsville’s new massive development on Governors Drive and 14th street is set to hit the market on April 1 2022. The Range is a 49,000 square foot building that contains three stories of upscale commercial office and studio space. It is the only the first part of a major facelift that will create an interconnected and fully walkable atmosphere along Governors Drive.

image0 1The Range is one of two projects from Charleston, S.C. based developers The Beach Company that will share a 14 acre campus. The other portion of the development, The Foundry, is a multi-use complex that will consist of 328 multi-family flats, 14 townhomes and 5,000 square feet of retail space which will be dedicated to a restaurant concept. The first flats are expected to be completed and brought to the market by the third quarter of 2022.

Along with Campus 805 and Stovehouse, The Range and The Foundry will update a portion of the city and serve as a new gateway into west Huntsville. The development is accompanied by a fully landscaped 10 foot wide sidewalk along Governors drive that will fully connect The Range with the surrounding developments.

JC Darby is the Development Manager for both portions of the project and, according to him, the idea of The Range and The Foundry has always centered on creating a sense of interconnectivity and walkability that Huntsville has lacked in many areas of the city. image3

“Stovehouse and the other existing structures have been integral in our decision making for this development,” said Darby. “We are excited to be a part of the momentum they have started in creating what will be a very integrated district. Stovehouse has already done a wonderful job of delivering the work and the play aspects and we hope to complement their projects by delivering a large residential component that is currently missing along with some ‘Class A’ office space that they do not have currently.”

The Range and The Foundry is a joint effort between The Beach Company and multiple Huntsville based companies. Crunkleton Real Estate will oversee the leasing component of both the commercial office and the residential space. Brasfield & Gorrie has served as the contractor for The Range while Wieland Builds is handling construction for The Foundry. The Range is financed by Huntsville’s local Bank Independent where Tim Singleton has been instrumental to the entire process according to Darby.
