Chamber announces contenders for Small Business Awards

Each year, the Best Places to Work have been awarded by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber.

Now comes the 37th annual Small Business Awards, a marquee event on the Chamber’s calendar each year.

Contenders for each category have been announced and winners will be unveiled during a ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 1.

“Our Small Business Awards Celebration is one of our premiere events of the year, and we’re working on some cool surprises for this year,’’ said Ashley Engles-Ross, the Chamber Vice President of Small Business. “We look forward to celebrating with everyone on November 1.’’

More details regarding the event will be announced soon.

“We know our contenders are hoping to win their categories, and the judging is underway,’’ Engles-Ross said. “Registration for this event will open in mid-September on www.hsvchamber.org

“We know a lot goes in to running a small business, and the past few years have made this especially challenging. Yet many of our companies have stood the test, and made it through even stronger. We applaud them.’’

Engles-Ross said nominees for awards are essential to the city’s daily pulse.

“We are fortunate to have many small businesses that are community-minded,’’ she said. “You see a lot of our member companies advertise at local football or soccer games. They say ‘yes’ when someone asks to support our high school bands and theater programs, and this provides much-needed support to these organizations..

“Whether it’s time, treasure or talent, many of the contenders for this year’s Small Business Awards are supporting the efforts of local nonprofits that are providing critical services, and contributing to our community’s quality of life.’’
