Huntsville ODEI opens Spring 2024 Civic Engagement Academy applications
The Huntsville Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is hosting a spring 2024 Civic Engagement Academy (CEA) for eligible individuals interested in learning more about city government and its role in shaping Huntsville as a community.
The free, eight-week program consists of two-hour sessions combining classroom learning and interactive instruction, aiming to give participants a better understanding of city operations and how to engage with City government. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with City leaders.
“The Civic Engagement Academy is not just a program; it’s a pathway to creating positive change within our community,” said Kenny Anderson, Director of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. “We invite all eligible individuals who share our passion for community involvement to apply and join us on this transformative journey.”
After the March 5 orientation, each Tuesday night session will run from 6-8, covering different areas of city governance and operations with the intent to foster civic awareness and engagement, empowering participants to make a positive impact within their community:
- March 5: How Our City Operates
- March 19: Our City Growing
- March 26: Our City Safe, Secure & Responding
- April 2: Our City at Work at City Hall
- April 9: Our City Maintaining
- April 16: Our City Engaging
