Local organization to host inaugural women-only PTSD support group for Alabama veterans

Invisible Warriors, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting female veterans, is addressing a significant challenge impacting women in the military.

Recent studies reveal that 1 in 3 women veterans experiences some form of military sexual trauma (MST) and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a significantly higher rate compared to their male counterparts.

To address this pressing concern, Invisible Warriors is launching the first and only women-only PTSD support group in Alabama.

The inaugural meeting will take place on January 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Clayton E. Moneymaker American Legion Post, located at 2900 Drake SW, Huntsville, AL.

This groundbreaking initiative will provide a safe and supportive environment for women veterans to share their experiences and find solidarity.

The meeting will be held in a private room at the back of the post, ensuring confidentiality and comfort for all attendees.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the event.

Nancy Becher, President of Invisible Warriors, stated, “Our organization recognizes the unique challenges faced by women veterans. This support group is a crucial step in addressing the disproportionate impact of MST and PTSD on our female service members.”

Women veterans interested in attending this inaugural meeting are encouraged to join Invisible Warriors in their mission to support and empower those who have served our country.
