Huntsville International Airport Sets All-Time Monthly Passenger Traffic Record in June
Huntsville International Airport (HSV) broke all previous passenger traffic records in June, marking its busiest month in history. Passengers traveling through Huntsville numbered 160,455, an annual increase of 9.1% as compared to June 2024. May 2025 was the second highest record month with 156,967 passengers traveling through Huntsville International. The Airport has seen a 4.7% increase in passenger traffic so far in the year 2025.
The availability of more seats is the main reason for the increase in passenger numbers, said Huntsville International Airport Board Chair Joey Ceci.
“We have seen our airline partners invest in HSV with bigger planes, more route frequency and new destinations,” Ceci said. “Our community is embracing these upgrades and additions to our schedule by choosing to book their flights from their hometown airport.”
In June, Breeze Airways expanded its nonstop service from Huntsville International Airport (HSV) to Orlando, increasing flights to seven days a week. The airline also launched a new nonstop route between Los Angeles (LAX) and HSV. Delta Air Lines introduced the first nonstop service to New York City from HSV since the 1970s, with daily flights to LaGuardia, and added more daily nonstop flights to Detroit and Atlanta. American Airlines increased its frequencies to Charlotte and Dallas in response to growing demand.
“Our customers tell us time and time again how much they love the convenience and committed customer service that they enjoy with Huntsville International Airport,” said Butch Roberts, CEO for Huntsville International Airport. “The passenger record numbers just show that if the flights are available to our community at competitive prices, they will fly from HSV and not drive to an airport out of town.”
“We encourage people to shop for Huntsville air fares first when making travel plans, and they will be able to find a competitive fare in our market,” he added. “We have seen what customers choosing HSV first can do – our airlines notice and respond with bigger, better equipment and nonstop routes to desirable locations to meet demand.”
Airport leadership believes the 18-county region of North Alabama and southern Tennessee served by Huntsville International Airport can support additional seat capacity, which is a key indicator of an airline’s growth strategy, as well as expanded nonstop service in the coming years.
“Our Airport is built to support more flights, and our customers are already enjoying the improvements in amenities that we are making, so their experience at HSV is improving,” Roberts said. “Our new, modern restrooms just opened last week, and Starbucks and Interstellar Pizza will open later this summer to serve our customers. We are soon breaking ground on a new parking deck. If our community continues to support flights close to home, we will grow, too.”
