Two opportunities to hear from national security expert Asha Castleberry-Hernandez
United Women of Color will serve as the title sponsor for a set of events featuring Asha Castleberry-Hernandez, a national security expert, author, Army veteran, former Biden-Harris administration appointee, and university professor. Castleberry-Hernandez will speak at three events during her visit to Huntsville from September 10 to 12.
There are two opportunities to hear Professor Castleberry-Hernandez during her three-day visit.
Thursday, September 11, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Join Castleberry-Hernandez for a thoughtful discussion on how the events of September 11, 2001, reshaped America’s approach to national security. As we mark the 24th anniversary of that day, she will reflect on its enduring impact, explore the evolving global threats we face today, and explain why security matters to everyone, both at home and abroad.

Hosted by Madison County Commissioner Violet Edwards, this roundtable unites women leaders from across North Alabama for networking and dialogue, followed by a discussion with Castleberry-Hernandez on leadership, mentoring, and civic responsibility.
“It is essential for women leaders across Madison County to gather, connect, and learn from diverse voices in fields like national security,” Commissioner Edwards said. “Coffee and conversation with Asha will inspire and empower us all toward greater civic engagement and leadership.”
