USA Patriots Amputee Softball Team Returns to Toyota Field for Annual Game

September 3, 2025/in Community Development, Defense, Events, Featured, Government, Military, News, Recreation, Sports, Travel/Leisure/by staff reports

America’s amputee softball team, the USA Patriots, will take the field at Toyota Field on Saturday, September 13, facing off against AUSA Redstone-Huntsville in their annual matchup before the Rocket City Trash Pandas’ home game.

More than a pregame exhibition, the event—organized by the Young Professionals of the AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter—has become a tribute to service, sacrifice and resilience.

The Patriots are made up entirely of current and former service members who lost limbs in uniform. Through softball, they continue to serve by inspiring others and showing what it means to overcome adversity with courage.

“Seeing the USA Patriots in action and knowing what they’ve overcome in their own lives, and then what they do to help kids overcome their own situations is really amazing,” said AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter President, John Kuenzli, “It makes our opportunity to support them that much more special.”

The game’s presenting sponsor is Phoenix – Huntsville Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc., a longtime advocate for inclusive opportunities and community rehabilitation.

“It’s great to have Phoenix as our presenting sponsor given their close alignment to supporting people in their recovery and rehab efforts,” added Kuenzli, “They’re a great partner to AUSA here in the Tennessee Valley and we’re very grateful to have their support.”

All proceeds from the event will benefit the USA Patriots Kids Camp, a free weeklong program for children with limb differences that fosters confidence, community and a belief in their own potential.
