U.S. Representative Dale Strong (AL-05) visited the Leidos Advanced Training Center on the campus of Drake State Community and Technical College yesterday, joining Drake State president Patricia Sims, faculty and staff to celebrate the enduring partnership between Drake State and the Huntsville community.

The visit celebrated the college’s 65th anniversary and its continued role as a provider of higher education and workforce development in Huntsville.

“Drake State is where our community comes to build a future. What Congressman Strong’s sustained support makes possible is more than just the programs and resources we need, but the opportunity for anyone in our community who dreams of higher education and more skills training to have access to it,” said Dr. Patricia Sims, President of Drake State Community and Technical College.

Drake State’s partnerships with industry and business in North Alabama reflect a commitment to connecting students with the tools and training needed to be competitive in the workforce.

Congressman Strong, who serves as the Vice Chair of the Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations Subcommittee, has advocated for community colleges and the people who depend on them. During the visit, he shared brief remarks on Drake State’s contribution to workforce development, economic mobility, and community life in the region.

“Drake State is at the forefront of building Alabama’s next generation of skilled workers. By bringing together education, business, and industry, they are not only strengthening the economy but also creating real opportunities for people right here at home. I’m proud to support Drake State’s continued growth and its vital role in advancing technical education and career training, positioning North Alabama as a leader in workforce development,” said U.S. Representative Dale Strong, AL-05.

The visit marks a moment of recognition as Drake State commemorates 65 years of serving students, workers, and families across Huntsville and beyond.
