In recognition of the city’s difference makers in landscaping, Huntsville officials recognized 376 properties at the annual Beautification Awards ceremony.

Mayor Tommy Battle, City Council members, the city’s Green Team and the Huntsville Beautification Board made the presentations last week at the annual Beautification Awards ceremony.

“It’s a critical responsibility to protect Huntsville’s natural beauty,” Battle said. “The individuals and organizations honored today show how creativity and care can shape a healthier, more vibrant city for everyone.

“Every property recognized this year reflects a deep sense of pride in Huntsville. Together, these efforts make a real difference — creating cleaner, greener and more welcoming spaces across our city”

The mission of the City of Huntsville Beautification Board, created in 1965, is to encourage and applaud beautification efforts throughout the city. The city’s Beautification Awards began in 1975, recognizing outstanding contributions through exceptional landscaping and well-maintained properties.

“The Beautification Awards highlight the passion and hard work woven into Huntsville’s landscapes,” said Acacia Moore, Huntsville Beautification Board president. “This year’s honorees exemplify how thoughtful design and careful maintenance can strengthen the beauty and spirit of our community.”

In addition to the honorees, these special awards were also presented:

Beautification Special Recognition Award: Judy Sullivan, volunteer
District 1: Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church
District 2: McMullen Lane Entrance
District 3: Rosie’s Mexican Cantina
District 4: Randolph Lower School
District 5: Walden at Providence

“Our awardees play an important role in keeping Huntsville beautiful,” Manager of Landscape Management Niki Sothers said. “Beautiful landscapes are living systems — they require care, skill and vision.

“This year’s honorees demonstrate what thoughtful design and regular maintenance can achieve.”
