The Huntsville Business Journal is excited to announce the addition of a new bi-weekly column from Alexander Duck, the journal’s newest guest contributing author.

Alex’s background focuses on educational and professional development. His bi-weekly article will utilize this past experience to bring forth useful tools that managers, employers, and employees alike can utilize to enhance workplace success.

Alex received his Bachelors of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature from Grand Valley State University. Afterward, he received his Masters in Adult Education from Auburn University.

From 2019-2021, Alex worked as a Program Coordinator for the Government & Economic Development Institute of Auburn University, where he trained public administrators, tax personnel, economic developers, and elected officials across the state of Alabama. In 2021, Alex worked as a Title III Success Coach at Chattahoochee Valley Community College, where he helped design and launch various educational programs, conducted individual coaching sessions, and developed training for college staff and faculty.

His most recent post was at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where Alex worked as a Program Coordinator. During his time at UAH, Alex managed more than 60 online professional development and certificate courses, worked with UAH instructors to integrate new educational technology into classrooms, managed a team of student-workers, and worked on data management.

His articles will focus on summarizing the lessons learned from his past experiences, and providing insightful articles and resources from all angles of Huntsville business. Primary article topics will include managing and developing soft skills, marketing, professional development, effective management systems, and workplace culture, to name a few.

“My goal for the audience of the Huntsville Business Journal will be to provide articles, from my past experiences, that really help take advantage of the unique culture present in Huntsville. The city is a very special place for businesses to start and to grow. We are such an interconnected community, and I feel like my articles can be a part of that same conversation,” said Alex in an interview with HBJ.

Alex’s bi-weekly articles will begin next Wednesday. Make sure to check out our main page for story updates, and subscribe for regular morning email blasts on Huntsville’s top stories.
