Up, Up and Away: Breeze Airways Takes First Flight From Huntsville

July 15, 2021/in Development, Lead, News, Travel/Leisure/by Kimberly Ballard

Under a traditional “water hose arch,” the first flight of Breeze Airways arrived Thursday morning at Huntsville International Airport.

The carrier introduced its “low fare, high-flex” nonstop service to New Orleans and Charleston from Huntsville. As part of its initial air service launch, Breeze is also offering nonstop service July 22 to Tampa.

“We are excited about the new service and expect our community will respond to the new ‘Seriously Nice’ and ultra-low fare air service by taking advantage of the flexibility offered by flying and supporting Breeze Airways,” said Port of Huntsville CEO Rick Tucker.

Breeze’s arrival in the Rocket City is a sign of a strong economy for the city and the state, according to the governor and city leaders

“Huntsville’s dramatic growth and recurring designation as one of the best places to live in the country positions us to attract more residents and visitors,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “With this exciting investment from Breeze Airways, we can expand our airline capacity to reach even more destinations.”

Huntsville International’s economic impact extends beyond the city and county lines. In fact, Breeze Airways is expected to make a significant economic impact on the airport’s 18-county service area.

“We are pleased today to officially launch Breeze Airways service at HSV,” said Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority Chairman Mark McDaniel. “The announcement of Breeze Airways is an economic development announcement as important as any other because transportation is the key to economic growth and prosperity.

“Our airport is the connection to other areas of the country and business opportunities found in those areas.”

“Huntsville, Alabama is booming, and it is exciting news that Breeze Airways is officially launching their non-stop service today out of Huntsville International Airport,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “We continue showing the world that Alabama is not only open for business, but that it is the best place to do business.”

The carrier does not have flight-change or cancellation fees; it offers up to 24 months of reusable flight credit and and has customized flight features on its app. Visit flybreeze.com.
