Holt and her staff warmly welcomed guests to the new hospital’s open house and ribbon cutting, allowing them to explore the beautifully designed, high tech facility.
Located at 1229 Slaughter Rd in Madison, the hospital provides a wide range of preventative, diagnostic, surgical, and dental services as well as hospice and end of life care for both standard house pets and exotics.
Dr. Holt designed her facility from the ground up, beginning with a hand-drawn sketch of her ideal veterinary clinic floor plan, designed to provide an efficient but homelike and low stress environment for her patients and their human companions.
Primus Companies took on the task of construction, with Holt and her family in charge of design work, furnishing, and implementing the finishing touches. Holt noted that her husband was in charge of IT, “making sure that every phone, every printer, every modem has worked right to now.”
The clinic presents visitors with a soothing, but fun and friendly environment with a welcoming entrance, lots of natural light, sliding barn doors in the exam area, and a calming blue-green and white color scheme. There is a separate cat waiting room, as well as separate cat and dog hospitals to minimize stress.
In addition to these touches, Holt pointed out that each of the exam rooms features a large window looking out to the treatment area so the owners can see what’s going on and know that their pets are being well cared for.
The hospital also has colorful artwork on display throughout, featuring their many past and present patients. One client could be overheard delightedly spotting a portrait of his pet rats.
Holt noted that she has plans for further expanding the hospital in the near future with the addition of a boarding facility in the rear. For now, however, she is thrilled with the current office. “It took a lot of work to get here,” Holt said, “but we’re finally here.”
