Bridge Street Town Centre welcomed an exciting new addition to its entertainment offerings today with the grand opening of Main Event in the former Toys R Us building. Located at 6884 Governors Drive West near Panera Bread, this is the company’s 46th location in 17 states and its first location in the state of Alabama.

The line of attendees wrapped around the building in anticipation of earning a year of free laser tag, offered to the first 200 in the building. According to Haley Buie of Bayer Properties, the first in line showed up at 6 AM to claim her prize.

“We are so, so excited to be here in Alabama. I remember going on a real estate trip and touring this market. And when we spent time in Huntsville we knew right away this is a Main Event market because of people like you. We stand for families–that’s what we do. And we want to play a big part in your community,” Main Event CEO Chris Morris said.

“We don’t want to just be here and open up our doors just for games and fun, although that’s a big part of what we do,” he continued. “We really want to be active with you and your community, and we want to be a place that is an extension of your own family.”

Morris also noted that the Huntsville Main Event has some attractions unique to this location, including a full service bar and an updated laser tag arena, the first of its kind for the chain. In addition, it offers an innovative menu for diners, with new menu items rolling out in July.

Following the presentation of a plaque from Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce President Chip Cherry, General Manager Justin Hutchins announced that Main Event had selected Still Serving Veterans to be its engagement charity, with an initial donation of $2,500. Hutchins stated that for every strike in the bowling alley during opening week, Main Event will donate an additional $10.

After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the grand opening commenced with the Grissom Tigers band entertaining the crowd outside while Sprocket, mascot of the Rocket City Trash Pandas, high-fived guests as they entered Huntsville’s newest entertainment center. Main Event has partnered with MiLB Huntsville Trash Pandas to sponsor the “Moment of the Game” along with hosting birthday parties and operating the Toyota Field “Kid Zone” playground.

Main Event’s operating hours are Mondays from 11AM to 1Am, Tuesday through Thursday from 11AM to 12AM, Fridays from 11AM to 2AM, Saturday from 9AM to 2AM, and Sunday from 11AM to 12AM.
