Goodwyn Mills Cawood cuts ribbon on new office in downtown Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Local architecture and engineering firm Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) recently celebrated the relocation of its Huntsville office to a newly-renovated space in the heart of downtown.

“We’ve been a part of the Huntsville community for many years, but we truly feel this move downtown represents a new era for our firm here,” GMC CEO Jeffrey Brewer said. “Huntsville has boomed over the last few years, and we’re thankful to have even a small part of some of the progress that’s happening here, with projects like the new city hall, just a few blocks away from our office, Buffalo Rock’s new distribution facility, the Lockheed Martin missile facility and many more. We hope to continue to be part of the positive momentum that’s happening here in our community.”

The new office is located in the historic Struve–Hay Building in the Jefferson Street side of the building. Originally constructed in 1900, the building is an important piece of architectural history in Huntsville. The building was originally two stories with a three-story tower on the corner, but the second story of the Jefferson Street façade was removed in 1955. Previously consisting of two storefronts, the Jefferson Street side was later combined into one, which is now home to GMC’s Huntsville office.2 GMC Huntsville Interior EBV4770

In designing the office, GMC’s architectural team was excited to bring new life into the historic building while maintaining as much of the original structure as possible. The office space was designed to be a large, open plan studio to enhance collaboration among team members. It also features open conference areas, along with a large conference room and smaller huddle rooms.

“We are excited to be in downtown Huntsville and especially for opportunities it presents for our team to be more connected to the community and to be part of the excitement that’s surrounding this new office space,” Brewer said.

The address of GMC’s new office is 117 Jefferson Street North, Huntsville, Alabama.
