Graduate programs in engineering and nursing at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of The University of Alabama System, were recognized for excellence in U.S. News & World Report’s recent rankings of the 2023-2024 Best Graduate Schools.

UAH’s College of Engineering is ranked #2 among Best Engineering Schools in the state of Alabama. Its national ranking is tied at #73.

The master’s degree program at UAH’s College of Nursing comes in third in Alabama for Best Nursing Schools, and it received a national ranking of #82, also a tie.

“It is wonderful to see some of our marvelous UAH graduate programs recognized for the fine work they are doing,” said Graduate School Dean Dr. Jon Hakkila.

“UAH’s engineering programs draw outstanding graduate students due to the exceptional research profiles and teaching credentials of the faculty,” he said. “And UAH’s nursing program is recognized for its devoted faculty and for maintaining its high academic standards.”

U.S. News’ annual Best Graduate Schools rankings are based on “expert opinion about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students,” according to its website.

For 2023-2024, “data for the rankings in all six disciplines (business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing) came from statistical surveys of 2,214 programs and from reputation surveys sent to approximately 6,300 academics and 12,690 professionals, conducted in fall 2022 and early 2023.”

This is a contributing post from UAH’s newsroom. To read more stories like this, please visit here. A summary of UAH’s Best Graduate Schools rankings, with links to each program’s profile, can be found here.
