Invariant Corporation secures $200m contract to enhance Marine Corps Counter-UAS Capabilities

Huntsville-based Invariant Corporation has been awarded a $200 million contract by the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command to develop an advanced Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) Engagement System (CES).

This firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) agreement marks its largest contract to date.

The CES will integrate with the Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS) and be mounted on the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) trailer, creating a mobile and versatile defense solution.

Designed to counter Group 2 and Group 3 unmanned aerial system (UAS) threats, the system offers a cutting-edge approach to protecting military assets from evolving drone technologies.

“This contract represents a pivotal achievement in our company’s history and underscores our commitment to national defense,” said Daniel Levis, Invariant’s Director of Technical Operations. “With over a decade of experience in C-UAS development, this award enables us to continue delivering advanced solutions tailored to meet emerging threats.”

Invariant’s CES will incorporate proprietary technologies, including the Multi-Use Launch Electronics (MULE) and the Optical Surveillance Infrared (OSIRIS) Imaging System. The company will also collaborate with trusted industry partners to integrate innovative capabilities into the system.

The contract spans through October 2029 and includes a base period with four additional ordering periods. Initial funding is sourced from the Marine Corps’ fiscal year 2024 research, development, test, and evaluation budget, with funds allocated before the fiscal year’s end.
