Local organization offers high-quality opportunities for lifelong learners

LearningQUEST’s spring term is right around the corner.

The organization, which partners with the Huntsville/Madison County Library, provides educational and enrichment opportunities to adult learners of all ages.

Most of the group’s meetings take place at the Downtown Library, with some gatherings occurring at the South Huntsville Public Library.

Groups that coalesce around specific interests, like hiking or international dining, will meet at various area locations.

A special one-time program, featuring Mayor Tommy Battle, is scheduled for February 11 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The mayor will take part in a conversation with Dr. Charles Gattis, a retired Methodist minister. Mayor Battle is expected to speak about strategies for managing the city’s rapid growth.

Ron Moody, a Certified Financial Planner, will deliver presentations on legacy planning and tax planning strategies for retirement.

A course entitled “Introduction to Psychology as a Social Science” will meet five times throughout the term and will be taught by Dr. William Confer, a clinical psychologist who practiced for nearly four decades.

Courses on subjects as varied as film, history, technology, and nutrition ensure that there is something for everyone.

Huntsville resident Sue Shirley spoke with the Huntsville Business Journal about her experience with LearningQUEST classes.

“I think the classes are a gift to the community,” said Shirley. “They are a lifeline. You meet such a wide variety of people with interesting life experiences.”

Shirley has found LearningQUEST classes to be accessible, affordable, and deeply engaging.

LearningQUEST will hold a “Rally Day” next week, which the public is invited to attend.

Rally Day attendees will have the opportunity to pick up a course catalog for the spring term, register for classes, and learn more about courses, trips, and special events that will take place in the coming months.

Rally Day will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Huntsville Jaycee Community Building at 2180 Airport Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The LearningQUEST spring catalog, which covers programs from January through June 2025, can be found here.
