Trash Pandas to host job fairs for minor league, college games

January 15, 2025/in Events, Featured, News, Recreation, Sports, Workforce Development/by Mike Easterling

Pitchers and catchers report to professional baseball spring training in less than a month when Major League veterans and big league hopefuls begin gathering at camps in Florida and Arizona.

However, the time is now for the Rocket City Trash Pandas to put together their roster of Toyota Field workers for the 2025 Southern League season, their fifth as the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.

The club is hosting a job fair on two dates: Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. Job seekers must be at least 16 years old and have legal work status.

According to Chris Harris, the team’s broadcast and media relations manager, a healthy turnout of applicants is expected.

“This will be my first job fair here,’’ he said, “but I think a good mid-range number for the two days would be 100 applicants. Several factors weigh into people showing up, but I expect north of that number.’’

Lindsey Knupp, team executive vice president, said regardless of how many applicants show up, they’ll carefully select workers.

“Hiring outstanding employees is vital to the Trash Pandas’ success,’’ she said. “These dedicated individuals ensure that every guest at Toyota Field enjoys a positive experience. From providing exceptional customer service to creating a welcoming atmosphere, our team works to make each game memorable for fans and their families.’’

The following positions are available:

  • Food and Beverage (Bartenders, Cooks, Concessions, Suite Attendants)
  • Ushers and Ticket Takers
  • Promotions Staff and Performers
  • In-Venue Amusements Staff
  • Box Office Ticket Sellers
  • Production Staff
  • Merchandise Sales Associates
  • Parking Lot Attendants
  • Security Staff
  • Guest Services
  • Grounds Crew

During the job fair, applicants will have the chance to interview for a maximum of three (3) positions. Each interview will take about 5-10 minutes. Individuals not hired for one of their top three positions could be offered a role in a different department.

All applicants must have a completed job application prior to being interviewed. The application can be downloaded and filled out in advance by CLICKING HERE, and forms will also be available on-site. Job preference sheets will be available for those interviewing for multiple positions.

The Trash Pandas open the season with a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 4 against the Chattanooga Lookouts. The Knoxville Smokies then arrive for a six-game set April 8-13 in the second of 13 homestands

In addition to minor league baseball, Toyota Field will also host additional high school and college baseball and softball games.

Baseball action includes Auburn–UT-Martin on Feb. 11, UNA-Army in a three-game series Feb. 14-16, and Alabama-UNA on March 25.

The inaugural Rocket City Softball Showcase will be played from February 19-24 featuring Alabama, Alabama A&M, Auburn, Jax State, UAH, and UNA in the 14-team field. As part of the showcase,  local and area high schools are among the 12-team that will conclude the event on Feb. 24.
