SAIC supports unique local high school focused on cyber tech, engineering

Technology integrator SAIC announced Wednesday afternoon the company’s continued support of the STEM education and workforce development in Alabama, specifically in the Huntsville region.

SAIC, which is headquartered in Virginia but has had a strong presence in the city in Cummings Research Park since the 1980s, is investing $1.5 million in the residential Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering (ASCTE).

The announcement was made at the National Cyber Summit at the Von Braun Center.

ASCTE, located at 229 Wynn Drive in Cummings Research Park and in its third year, is the nation’s lone high school specializing in integrating cyber technology and engineering into all of its academic disciplines, according to a press release from SAIC. ASCTE is a public, commuter and residential magnet high school serving students throughout Alabama.

Tuition and housing are free. For more information call 256-489-3700 or visit info@ascte.org.

According to the school’s website, it also offers five sports that compete in the Alabama High School Athletic Association – cross country, tennis, volleyball, basketball and soccer.

The donation from SAIC is in support of the school’s mission of educating the cyber technology and engineering workforce of the future and providing access to programs and tools that position students to become skilled leaders in the field of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
