Dollar General’s DGX Huntsville has opened in the Greene Street parking garage at the intersection of Holmes Avenue and Greene Street.

The store is designed to meet the unique needs of customers in the Huntsville’s vibrant city center. DGX will also offer an affordable retail option in a modern retail format. The  store is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“Working with DGX to secure its first location in the state was an honor and an exciting opportunity for Huntsville,” said Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate’s Vice President of Retail Anusha Alapati Davis. “DGX is a brand that searches for vibrant metropolitan markets. The fact that it chose Huntsville speaks volumes about our retail landscape. It places our urban center in the ranks of larger markets such as Nashville, Raleigh, Philadelphia, and Cleveland.

“We are very excited they are now open and serving the Rocket City.”

The nearly 3,900 square-foot store provides easy in-and-out retail space showcasing its fresh fruits and vegetables, expanded health and beauty section, frozen and refrigerated foods, pet supplies, candies and snacks, paper products and home cleaning supplies.

DGX Huntsville provides a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.

DGX also features home décor, electronics and seasonal offerings, as well as a checkout lane geared toward a high-volume store for a quick and easy check out for customers.

“We are excited to bring our DGX format to the Huntsville community to help support the needs of locals and tourists alike in the city’s downtown corridor,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and development. “Through our DGX Huntsville location, we look forward to serving customers with value and convenience on quality products to help them save money on the everyday, essential items they need.”

Dollar General developed the brand after customer research indicated millennials were one of the largest groups to frequent its stores. The team created the DGX concept to meet the unique needs of customers living, working, and visiting dynamic metropolitan areas. Its design aims to capture the aesthetics of an ever-changing urban landscape.

DGX Huntsville will make it easy for those living in and visiting downtown to purchase everyday goods without leaving the city center, Crunkleton said in a news release. As more hotels open in the neighborhood, business travelers and tourists will be able to walk to DGX and purchase much-needed essentials.
