Exciting Activities Announced for Cummings Research Park’s 2022 Family Fun Day

October 17, 2022/in Community Development, Entertainment, Events, Featured, NASA, News, Travel/Leisure/by staff reports

HUNTSVILLE, AL – Cummings Research Park (CRP) is excited to announce a new, one-of-a-kind event happening this weekend in honor of the Park’s 60th Anniversary. And it’s FREE!

Family Fun Day, to be held this Saturday, October 22, will be an all-day event split between the Point at Lake 4 in CRP West and the MidCity District. The day will be divided into two time frames: Day portion, from 11am – 4pm, and the night portion, from 4pm – 11:30pm.

The daytime portion of the event will feature family-friendly activities such as remote control power model boat races, balloon animals, face painting, sidewalk chalk, candy giveaways, and food trucks. Kids can also do hands-on activities at interactive booths from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Arts Huntsville, Land Trust of North Alabama, Huntsville Parks & Recreation, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and more. Capping it off,  local musicians Josh Allison, Jerome-O, and Josh Taylor will perform live around the Lake.

This event will be held inside Cummings Research Park, at The Point at Lake 4, across from the ADTRAN South entrance and between Dynetics (890 Explorer Blvd) and Auburn University Research and Innovation Campus. Parking will be available at any of the lots adjacent to the lake.

Come see the other side of CRP when the nighttime portion of the event flips over to the MidCity District for a more big-kid/adult-friendly atmosphere. CRP is partnering with The Camp for its month-long Monster Mash party, which will feature spooky drink specials, Halloween décor, live music, a costume contest, a pumpkin patch and more! This event is also free to the public, with the exception of food/drink purchases.
