Jackson Center to host 6th Annual Military Aviation and Air Dominance Summit

Defense Strategies Institute will host the 6th Annual Military Aviation and Air Dominance Summit on January 31 and February 1, 2024 in Huntsville’s Jackson Center

The Summit will open on January 31 at 8:05 a.m. with remarks from retired Major General Jeffrey Schloesser, who currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Bell.

Summit participants will have the opportunity to hear from more than twenty high-level speakers and panelists. Event organizers have also set aside five hours of networking time over the course of the two-day conference. Attendees will be able to connect with hundreds of fellow senior-level participants from diverse backgrounds in academia, active military, the Department of Defense, private industry, and federal and state government.

An expected highlight of the summit will take place in the afternoon of January 31 when UAH’s Interim Chair for the Department of Psychology, Dr. Nathan Tenhundfeld, will moderate a panel exploring how AI can reshape war fighting in the coming years. The panelists for this discussion include Captain Dennis Monagle of the U.S. Navy, Colonel Danielle R. Medaglia of the U.S. Army, and Colonel Ted Geasley of the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Tenhundfeld, who also directs the ATTAC (Advanced Teaming, Technology, Automation, and Cognition) lab, sees the city of Huntsville as having a unique role to play in uniting disciplines in order to increase the effectiveness of AI and automation in war fighting.

We are moving away from AI/automation being a tool, towards the technology acting more as a teammate. This means not only can we enhance warfighter effectiveness, but we can also start protecting warfighters by sending these automated teammates in to handle situations that represent a real risk to our service members. However, to do this right, requires strong collaborations between government, industry, and academia, leveraging each of their unique skill sets, and that is something I think Huntsville is better situated to do than just about anywhere in the country,” Tenhundfeld told the Huntsville Business Journal.

Developing these types of collaborations is what Defense Strategies Institute is all about. They have designed the 6th Annual Military Aviation and Air Dominance Summit specifically to promote discussions across sectors in order to support the U.S. military and government in the achievement of “mission critical goals.”

Registration for the conference is complimentary for active duty military, as well as for state and federal government personnel. For more information, please visit www.aviationdominance.com.
