Daniel Owen serves as the Public Relations Director for Drake State Community & Technical College. Prior to working at his current post, Daniel worked as the Director of Communications at the Huntsville Museum of Art from 2019-2023. Deeply involved in Huntsville’s community, he is a graduate of Leadership Greater Huntsville’s Connect C-24 class and a member of the Huntsville Museum of Art’s Foundation board. Daniel holds both an M.A. and a B.A. from the University of Alabama.

What is a fun fact about you?

I had the chance to drive Talladega Superspeedway in a NASCAR race car. Of the group of NASCAR Racing Experience participants in my session, I had the highest max speed, reaching 164 mph.

What is the best part about working in Huntsville?

People in organizations across the city see the value of connection, partnerships, and collaboration. It gives you the sense that people work daily to make Huntsville an even better community.

What is your best piece of advice for starting a career in Rocket City?

Ask your organizational leaders to support your participation in Leadership Greater Huntsville programs like Connect. Connect is a cheat code when it comes to connecting with people and finding ways to get involved by volunteering, joining a board, etc. If your organization attends events like the Chamber Open House, State of the City, or similar events, see if you can join or fill a seat at your company’s table.
