HudsonAlpha, gener8tor launch AgTech Accelerator’s fall cohort to drive agricultural innovation

November 1, 2024/in Agriculture, Biotechnology, Economy, Education, Featured, Lead, News, Research, Science, Small Business, Technology/by Gus Wintzell

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, in collaboration with global venture firm gener8tor, has announced the six agriculture technology startups selected for the Fall 2024 HudsonAlpha AgTech Accelerator.

The accelerator program, based in Huntsville, kicked off earlier this month and will invest up to $100,000 in each startup.

Focused on advancing agricultural innovation, the accelerator provides selected startups with access to HudsonAlpha and gener8tor’s resources, including tailored coaching, networking with mentors, and introductions to potential partners and investors.

“HudsonAlpha is committed to supporting breakthroughs that feed and fuel our communities,” said Alex Cate, HudsonAlpha’s Director of Entrepreneurship Programs. “From workforce development to cutting-edge startups, we’re excited to help move agricultural innovation forward.”

This cohort includes startups from various AgTech sectors: Druid Ag, specializing in crop video monitoring; Extrasense Technologies, focused on pest precision management; Karyosoft, optimizing agrigenomics research; Psigryph Inc., advancing nutrient delivery nanotechnology; See Produce, a solution for food inventory and supply chains; and Twin Farms, targeting cross-border food trade. The companies were selected from a global pool, chosen for their potential to drive growth in agriculture.

HudsonAlpha and gener8tor aim to strengthen Alabama’s economic landscape through innovation, and the HudsonAlpha AgTech Investment Accelerator has backing from the Innovate Alabama Tax Credit program and a range of corporate sponsors.

Christopher Udall, Managing Director of the HudsonAlpha AgTech Accelerator, emphasized the program’s community impact, noting, “Our mission is to help founders bring their bold ideas to life and boost local growth.”

The program will conclude on December 12 with a showcase event where each startup will pitch their companies to investors and the community. Interested investors or partners can contact Udall at christopher@gener8tor.com for more information.
