Madison Mayor Paul Finley to step down after 12 years, paving way for new leadership
After over a decade at the helm, Madison Mayor Paul Finley announced he will not seek a fourth term, marking the close of a tenure characterized by strategic growth and community-driven projects.
Serving three terms, Finley has focused on enhancing Madison’s quality of life, ensuring responsible development, and fostering partnerships throughout the Tennessee Valley.
Reflecting on his decision, Finley said, “Serving as mayor of this incredible city has been the honor of my lifetime. Together, we’ve built a thriving community, and I’m grateful for the trust Madison’s residents have placed in me. It’s time for new voices to shape our future.”
During his time in office, Finley championed projects that enriched Madison’s public spaces, prioritized sustainable development, and elevated public safety standards.
Under his leadership, Madison saw the opening of the Madison Hospital, James Clemens High School, the [Target] Shoppes of Madison, and Toyota Field within the Town Madison District.
Most recently, Finley celebrated the opening of the Madison Community Center, a project expanding services for seniors and residents of all ages.
With an emphasis on transparency and accessibility, Finley’s administration increased resident engagement and fostered a collaborative environment within local government.
He noted, “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident Madison’s brightest days lie ahead. We will finish strong, committed to quality of life improvements.”
Mayor Finley will complete his term, set to conclude with the City of Madison municipal elections on August 26, 2025.
