Krispy Kreme launches Artemis II Doughnut to celebrate historic NASA mission

March 30, 2026/in Aerospace, Engineering, Entertainment, Events, Featured, Food, Food/dining, Government, Lead, NASA, News, People, Retail, Space, Technology/by Bud McLaughlin

T-minus 1 day and counting.

It’s one small bite for … nah, there won’t be any small bites Tuesday when Krispy Kreme launches its Artemis II Doughnuts.

One day ahead of the planned historic launch of Artemis II – the first crewed test flight on NASA’s journey toward a long‑term lunar presence – Krispy Kreme is taking a giant leap to celebrate the history-making mission.

The iconic doughnut company is debuting a limited‑edition Artemis II Doughnut on a four-day mission – Tuesday through Friday – at participating Krispy Kreme shops, including the Huntsville store on North Memorial Parkway.

And, Krispy Kreme’s mission control says all systems are go.

“We are excited about this launch,” said Greg Brown with the local Krispy Kreme franchise. “The doughnuts look really great.

“We took some to the Marshall Space Flight Center and they loved them.”

With the glazed doughnut base, the Artemis II Doughnut blasts off with a bold design inspired by the mission.

The doughnut is dipped in blue vanilla-flavored icing, sprinkled with a mix of Oreo crunch and white nonpareils, finished with a cookies-and-creme flavored buttercream dollop and topped with a red chevron nod to the NASA logo.

It’s familiar, nostalgic, and mission-ready.

The limited-edition doughnut is also available as part of the Artemis II Specialty Dozen, featuring six Artemis II Doughnuts and six original glazed doughnuts … because every historic launch deserves a classic onboard.

“Big moments bring people together, and it doesn’t get much bigger than humans heading back into deep space,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme chief brand and product officer. “We took our iconic original glazed doughnut and gave it a mission-worthy makeover so fans can celebrate Artemis II in a fun, delicious way, right alongside history.”

Krispy Kreme has celebrated NASA’s greatest achievements, beginning with serving fresh Original Glazed doughnuts at the Apollo 11 launch in 1969, celebrating the Perseverance Rover landing on Mars in 2021, and commemorating the Artemis I mission with the Artemis Moon Doughnut in 2022, as well as creating doughnuts during supermoons and solar eclipses.

Customers are invited to share how they’re enjoying the new doughnut by using #KrispyKreme and tagging @krispykreme on social media.

5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … 1 … Yum!!
