“Toyota Alabama is a major catalyst for Alabama’s growth in the automotive sector,” said Ivey. “I am proud to see Toyota’s commitment to Alabama grow even stronger today. This 142-yard production line represents a $288 million dollar investment and ensures long-term job stability for 1,800 hardworking Alabamians.”

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle signed and read an official proclamation declaring Monday, October 18 as Engine Line-Off Celebration Day in honor of the IFORCE Max Hybrid Twin Turbo V6, and the IFORCE Twin Turbo V6 engines on the 20th Anniversary of Toyota Alabama in Huntsville.

“To the team members here, thank you for the good job you have done,” said Mayor Battle. “Thank you for making Huntsville a very special place. The job you have done on a day-to-day basis is the reason we are having the significant expansion of this plant.

“Toyota Alabama celebrates 20 years in Huntsville and represents a $1.2 billion investment in Alabama and continues to actively recruit and hire a diverse workforce, one of the best workforces in the state…” he read from the proclamation itself.

Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville sent a pre-recorded message.

“Because of what you have done here, Alabama will continue to be a hub for job opportunities and economic investment. Toyota picked the right place and people for the job, and I know this is just the beginning of what can be achieved because Alabama is home to thousands of highly skilled hardworking people like you. The impact of your work is immeasurable. People all over the country and across the world will have Huntsville to thank as they drive their kids to school, commute to work, or travel to see loved ones.”

Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong said that from now on, when you think of a twin turbo engine, there’s no better place to build it than here in the propulsion capital of the world.

“What we have done together has proven Alabama is the place to do business,” he said. “I think back over 20 years ago about 100 yards from here, I stood with Dr. Toyota, and he said ‘Something special is going to happen right here,’ and that is exactly what has happened over these last 20 years.

“Thank you, Toyota! I still believe our finest days are ahead!”
