New anchor tenant announced for The Range

March 31, 2023/in Banking, Community Development, Development, Featured, Finance, Lead, News/by staff reports

The Beach Company announced the anchor tenant at The Range, a new commercial office building at Huntsville’s western gateway on Governors Drive.

Merit Bank, a full-service bank headquartered in Huntsville, offering commercial, consumer and private banking services along with treasury management, electronic banking and agricultural and home mortgage lending, will open its new corporate headquarters and banking center at The Range by the end of 2023.

“When our search began for a new corporate headquarters, we sought out a Class-A location that would provide our employees and customers with convenience and walkability,” said Will Heaps, President and CEO of Merit Bank. “With easy access off Governors Drive and proximal dining, shopping and entertainment options, The Range has everything we were looking for.”

Merit Bank will occupy over 20,000 square feet of space across multiple floors in The Range. Spanning the building’s third floor, the company’s new headquarters will consist of approximately 17,422 square feet in addition to a first-floor retail branch providing mortgage services and daily customer banking off the main lobby.

The Range offers 49,229 square feet of Class-A commercial office space, featuring ample parking, multiple entry points, an open courtyard adjacent to the lobby, Gigabyte internet and convenient access to nearby restaurants.

Inspired by Huntsville’s aerospace history and booming technology industries, the three-story building’s modern steel and glass structure maximizes natural light to create open interiors and high-end finishes.

“Merit Bank’s relocation to The Range speaks volumes of the area’s recent growth and the increasing demand for Class-A office space in Huntsville,” says JC Darby, Development Manager at The Beach Company. “When developing The Range, we envisioned a tenant of Merit Bank’s stature and stellar community reputation as the anchor tenant, so this announcement signifies a significant step in finalizing our business plan.”

The Range offers convenient access to downtown Huntsville, Campus 805, the medical district, Research Park and Redstone Arsenal, and is well-positioned next to The Foundry, a 340-unit mixed use multifamily and townhouse development that is currently leasing residences, and Stovehouse, Huntsville’s largest carefully curated work, eat, play, drink and event complex.

Additionally, a brand-new, 10-foot-wide pedestrian sidewalk connecting the three developments was recently completed, increasing access and walkability for employees, residents and visitors.

Wesley Crunkleton and Eric St. John with Huntsville-based brokerage firm Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate Group represented the landlord, The Beach Company.
